This video explains how precision automated systems can improve arable farming. Similar automated methods are increasingly being used in aquaculture, hydroponics and aquaponics. Monitoring water quality parameters, temperature, climate predictions, how feed is distributed and consumed by species, how infrastructure is coping with the environment, how power is obtained and distributed, how waste is minimised. The list is extensive. The concept of looking after the “devil in the detail” or “looking after the pennies, and the pounds will look after themselves” is a sound existing business management model. What is new is the level of automation that can be used to manage risks. This has implications for human workforce development. Staff need to be competent to utilise this automation.
